Sachiko Imoto

Sachiko Imoto has more than twenty years of experiences in working in development cooperation including two year secondment at Development Cooperation Directorate of OECD.  Her past assignments include areas such as industrial development planning, capacity development in governance (especially judicial reforms), promoting gender equality and mainstreaming and project and program evaluation.  She served as the Senior Deputy Director and the Director for Sri Lanka and Maldives (South Asia Division 3, South Asia Department), leading a team to formulate JICA’s assistance strategies, identify and appraise programs and projects from 2008 to 2013.  Then she worked in India as Senior Representative of JICA India Office from 2014 to 2017, overseeing implementation of projects mainly in social sectors, which gave her deep insights of the region. Currently she is the Senior Deputy Director General of Operations Strategy Department and Senior Director of Office for Global Issues and Development Partnership, mainly responsible for establishing strategic partnerships with other donors and development partners.

Ms. Imoto holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts from International Christian University in Japan.
